Pear Australia Australia's Most Caring Telco
Dental practices

Phone systems for dental practices.

The chair is full and the phone is still ringing. Hosted-X puts reception, the nurses’ station and the mobile in one ring group. When nobody can pick up, Aria takes the booking or the message on your script — and the referral that still arrives by fax lands in the inbox, not on a machine in the steri room.

Reception that can actually leave the desk

The phone follows the practice,
not the front desk.

Ring group

Reception, the nominated surgeries and the practice manager's mobile. Reception first, then the rest — surgeries mid-procedure stay silent.

A queue with a short message

“We're with a patient — we'll be right with you.” Not eight minutes of hold music.

Softphone on the floor and at lunch

The practice number on a mobile. Reception can leave the desk without leaving the phone.

After hours

The emergency script or Aria, then an on-call mobile if the practice uses one. Set the hours once.

Missed-call SMS they can reply to

“Sorry we missed you — reply here or we'll call back.” The patient isn't left on dead air.

Multi-chair, multi-site

One platform. A number per rooms or per practice, each with its own greeting and after-hours rule.

Aria · On your script

The calls reception should
not have to type out.

Aria is Pear's AI receptionist, on Australian servers. She works from the script the practice approves: new-patient details and a preferred day, an existing patient running late, “can I move Thursday?” — taken down and sent to reception, not typed out between patients.

After hours she gives the hours, the address, and — only if the practice puts it on the script — “for swelling or trauma, call this mobile.”

X-Fax

Referrals and OPGs
still come by fax.

Into the inbox, not the steri room

GPs, specialists and imaging centres still fax. X-Fax receives every referral and OPG into the practice inbox as a searchable PDF, on Australian servers, and sends outbound referrals from a computer. No machine, no toner, no tray.

Sent from the other end, too

The GP surgeries on Pear send their referrals out through X-Fax the same way you receive yours — no machine at either end.

Your practice management software keeps the appointment book, the clinical record and the billing. Pear does the phone and the fax. If that software can email or SMS, it can work with Pear — we do not claim a named hook-up we do not have.

Privacy

Recordings and faxes
stay in Australia.

Voice, voicemail, call recordings and every fax are hosted in Australia on infrastructure Pear operates. Pear is CyberCert SMB1001 Gold certified, and the support staff who can see your call logs are in Baulkham Hills, not offshore. Recording is a practice policy, not a Pear default — where you switch it on, a spoken notice plays before the call connects.

Why Pear

No lock-in. No day
of dead phones.

What are you looking for?

A person in Australia replies the same business day. Your information stays with Pear. We don't share, sell, or spam — ever.

Questions practices ask.

Can the phone ring the nurse when reception is seating someone?
Yes. Reception, the nominated surgeries and the practice manager's mobile sit in one ring group. Reception rings first; if nobody picks up in a few seconds the nurses' station and the mobile ring too. Surgeries you don't want ringing mid-procedure stay silent — set per handset in the portal.
What does Aria say after hours?
Only what the practice puts on the script: opening hours, the address, and how to book. If the practice adds a line for swelling or trauma — “call this mobile” — Aria says that too. She takes new-patient details and a preferred day, and emails the message to reception for the morning. She does not give clinical advice.
Do we still need a fax machine for referrals?
No. GPs, specialists and imaging centres still fax, and X-Fax receives every one into the practice inbox as a PDF — searchable, on Australian servers. Outbound referrals go the same way from a computer. The machine in the steri room can go.
Several chairs / two practices?
Yes. A practice with several chairs runs one ring group and one number. Two practices run on the same platform with a number per practice, each with its own greeting and after-hours rule, and calls can overflow between them. One bill, one Australian support team.
Does this replace EXACT / Dental4Windows?
No. Your practice management software keeps the appointment book, the clinical record and the billing. Pear does the phone and the fax. If that software can email or SMS, it can work with Pear — we do not claim a named hook-up we do not have.
New handsets?
Not necessarily. Compatible existing handsets can be reused, and a softphone on a mobile suits the practice manager. New Yealink handsets start from $285 to buy, or can be rented. We confirm what you have on the onboarding call.
